National Flower of Kyrgyzstan

Included in the Shyrdak Symbols of Kyrgyzstan, the Tulip is also said to be the national flower of the country. Holland is commonly known as the Tulip state but the original Tulip state is in fact Kyrgyzstan. There are eighty types of Tulips in the world, seventy of which are grown in Central Asia. • Kyrgyzstan or officially known as Kyrgyz Republic is a small, mountainous, landlocked country in the heart of Central Asia, bounded to the north by Kazakhstan, to the south by China and Tajikistan and to the west by Uzbekistan.
• The Kyrgyz came under tsarist Russian rule during the 19th century, when thousands of Slavic farmers migrated into the region and Kyrgyzstan gained independence in 1991.
• Agriculture is an important sector of the economy in the Kyrgyz Republic. By the early 1990s, the private agricultural sector provided between one-third and one-half of some harvests. While cotton, wool, meat, tobacco; gold, mercury, uranium, natural gas, hydropower and machineries are some of the exports that add to the economy of the country.
